Donna Lou Ohlsen

Donna was born May 19, 1933, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Walter and Selma (Swanson) Larson. She graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1951 and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Donna married her long time sweetheart, Harvey Ohlsen on Sept. 12, 1953, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death in 1985.

Donna worked for Lakeshore Inc. and then Cable Constructors where she became the executive secretary, working there for over 25 years. She retired in 1998.

Donna was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Donna enjoyed coordinating monthly luncheons for her friends and fellow classmates as a way to keep in touch. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, gardening, hunting and camping. Most of all, she loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren whom she always spoiled and made feel special.

Donna is survived by three sons, Hal (Elizabeth) Ohlsen of River Falls, Wis., Scott (Diane) Ohlsen of Iron Mountain and Dan Ohlsen of River Falls, Wis.; 11 grandchildren, Carrin (Matt) Brookshaw, Hunter (Gina) Ohlsen, Hannah, Holden, Alexandra, Erin, Trevor, Lydia and Abbey Ohlsen, and Jordan and Landon Pugh; two great-granddaughters, Regan and Kenna; one great-granddaughter on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Donna was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Betty (Richard) Pardon.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Feb. 17 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Memorial services will follow at noon at the church. Rev. Paul Strom will officiate.

Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
