Denyce B. (Broullire) Hansch

IRON MOUNTAIN — Denyce B. (Broullire) Hansch, 63, of Iron Mountain, passed away to her eternal reward on Monday, March 16, 2020, at Mayo Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Denyce was born July 12, 1956, daughter of Lloyd and the late Betty Broullire of Kingsford. She graduated from Kingsford High School in 1974.

Denyce married Mark R. Hansch of St. Joseph on Jan. 3, 1981. Mark and Denyce met at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology.

Upon graduation, she worked at the University of Michigan Hospitals in research in Ann Arbor. Years later they moved to Minnetonka, Minn., where they lived for 25 years. She was employed at Molecular Genetics and later as an activities director at Trivilla Nursing Home. She also taught piano out of her home for 10 years.

Upon returning to Kingsford, she donated much of her time and talents to Freeman Nursing Home, offering Music Bingo, Bible studies and serving ice cream to the residents. Denyce also loved being part of the Dickinson County Community Chorus and was a faithful assistant to the family Maple Syrup operation. She loved to serve at her church, First United Methodist, as a pianist and a Sunday school teacher. Denyce loved motorcycle riding with Mark. She enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening, cooking and spending time with her entire family, especially being a “favorite auntie” to her many nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own. Denyce was a kind, gentle soul who had a servant’s heart and loved the Lord. She will be greatly missed by the many who loved her dearly.

Denyce leaves behind her husband of 40 years, Mark; her father, Lloyd Broullire; one brother, Allen (Teena) Broullire; a sister, Nancy (Tracy) LaFleur; sister-in-law, Debbie (Jonathan) Melvin; brother-in-law, Tom Hansch; six nieces and nephews, Kortnee (Nick) Fornetti, Amber (Jeramiah) Butterfield, Jourdan (Emily) Broullire and Michael (Lindsey) LaFleur, Matthew (Addie) Melvin and Julia (Joshua) Yoda; 15 great-nieces and great-nephews, McKenna LaFleur, Kaleb Fornetti, Konnor Collins, Traci Butterfield, Grayson Butterfield, Emery Fornetti, Jude Fornetti, Jaxson Butterfield, Lucas Broullire, Aubree Broullire, Hailee Broullire, Calum LaFleur, Mark Melvin, Wally Melvin, and Rhema Jo Yoda.

Denyce was preceded in death by her mother Betty Broullire in 2014.

Due to our nation’s current health concerns and the Executive Order signed by the Governor of the State of Michigan, Denyce’s Celebration of Life service will be postponed until a later date.

Service times will be announced in the Daily News at that time.
