Mary M. Maki

MILWAUKEE — Mary M. (Bielinski) Maki, 73, formerly of Vulcan, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. Mary battled with COPD for many years. She was diagnosed with COVID-19 on June 4, which resulted in her passing.

Mary was born May 15, 1947, in Milwaukee, daughter of the late Leonard and Irene Bielinski. She married James (Tex) Maki on Dec. 18, 1965, in Milwaukee, and he preceded her in death in 1991.

Mary worked for UP Special Delivery more than 20 years as a manager in both their Iron Mountain and Milwaukee locations.

Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary had a huge passion for sewing and quilting. She would make everything from Halloween and dance costumes for her great-grandchildren to beading and detail work on her nieces wedding dress.

Mary had an entire room dedicated just for storing her sewing items and material. It gave Mary great pleasure to make other people happy through her creations. In addition to sewing and quilting, Mary also enjoyed gardening and cooking.

Mary will be dearly missed by her children, April Gussey, Matt (Cori) Maki; three grandchildren, Megan Allen, Lily Knudson and Kate Maki; two great-grandchildren, Tiana Hubbard and Seville Small, nine brothers and sisters, one brother-in-law, and one sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was proceeded in death by her son-in-law, James Gussey; granddaughter, Alexis Maki; two sisters, Denise Ross and Sally Bielinski; sister-in-law, Susie Dudzik and her mother-in-law, Edith Lambeseder.
