KINGSFORD — Ronald F. Sparapani Jr., 63, of Kingsford, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, June 28, 2020, at Dickinson County Healthcare System in Iron Mountain.

He was born May 24, 1957, in Iron Mountain, son of Ronald Sr. and Jeanine (Beauchamp) Sparapani. Ron grew up in Kingsford and was a graduate of Kingsford High School, Class of 1975.

After graduation he went on to proudly serve in the United States Navy, from 1976 until his honorable discharge in 1980. Ron went to trade school where he learned waste water treatment. In 1985 he started at Verso Paper Mill as a power house operator, and worked there until his retirement in May of 2019.

Ron was a member of the VFW Post 3674 in Iron Mountain, and enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycles with his friends, the outdoors, and especially the time spent with his family.

Survivors include his mother, Jeanine Sparapani; two daughters, Sarah Sparapani of Kingsford and Anna (John) Sparapani of Kingsford; one brother, Randy (Roxanne) Sparapani of Kingsford; three sisters, Maria (Randy) Perron of Port Huron, Mich., Diana (Gino) Sparapani of Breitung Township and Lori Sparapani of Green Bay, Wis.; three grandchildren, Kaylee, Jaxson and Blaise; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Sr.; a niece, Alea Sparapani; and a great-niece, Grace Awald.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 2, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

A private memorial service will follow. Rev. Fr. Michael Kowalewski will officiate.

Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain. The American Legion, Uren Cooper Johnson Post 50 of Iron Mountain, will accord military honors at graveside.
