NORWAY – Dorothy “Dot” Mott, 88, of Norway, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020, at the home of her son in Mt. Clemens, Mich.

She was born on Oct. 28, 1931, in Norway, the daughter of the late Arthur Peterson and Myrtle (Lacrosse) Allard.

She graduated from Norway High School in 1949.

Dorothy “Dot” Peterson married Rudolph “Rudy” Mott on Aug. 22, 1952, at Camp Polk, La. He preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 2001.

Dot loved to draw and paint, including on saw blades, garage doors, and carved wooden statues. She, along with Rudy, won several blue ribbons awards. She was also a proud member of the Red Hatter’s Society. Dot loved spending time with her friends and family.

Dot is survived by her sons, Arty Mott of Warren, Mich., Ted Mott and Robert Bourbina of Mt. Clemens; grandchildren, Rocky II, Erin, Ryan Mott, and Sara (Mott) Wade Betlejewski; great-grandchildren Tessa and Madison Watson, Eliza-Jane and Levi Betlejewski, and Emma Mott; several nieces and nephews, Kathy (Squires) Jones, Pearl (Squires) Bill Carr, Thomas Boyd, Susan (Boyd) Amin Ladha, Valley Boyd, Rick Peterson, John Peterson, David Peterson, Sue (Peterson) Taylor and Cindy (Peterson) Sorrell.

She was preceded in death by her son, Rocky Mott and a grandson, Brandon; brothers, Morris Peterson, Edward, Jack, Steven, Raymond, Reynold, and Herbert “Sonny” Boyd; sisters Elaine Squires and Guinevere Boyd.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 28, from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at noon at the church with Fr. Timothy Ekaitis officiating.

Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery.
