Marilyn E. Steiro

AMASA — Marilyn E. Steiro, 84, of Amasa, passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls.

She was born on June 19, 1936, in Sheboygan, Wis., daughter of the late George and Esther (Lammers) Jensema. Marilyn grew up in the Sheboygan area and graduated from Oostberg High School. She lived on the family dairy farm and later met Kenneth Steiro in Northern Wisconsin.

They were united in marriage on June 13, 1959, in Gibbsville, Wis. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2002. They resided in Lakewood and Pestigo, Wis. until they moved to Amasa in 1967.

Marilyn enjoyed picking berries, canning, gardening, rummage sales and especially time spent with her family and friends, but most of all her grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons Keith (Leigh) Steiro of Amasa, Dale (Carrie) Steiro of Amasa and Erick (Lisa) Steiro of Spearfish, S.D.; two brothers, Calvin (Harriet) Jensema and Mark “Butch” Jensema, both of Oostburg, Wis.; one sister, Carol DenBoer of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Carmen (Josh) Novak, Hank Steiro, Michaela Steiro, Casey Steiro; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ken, Marilyn is preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon and Floyd Jensema and three sisters, Dorothy Wilterdink, Vi Jensema and Joyce Van Haveren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 1 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home in Crystal Falls. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Vicky Prewitt will officiate.

Burial will be in Hematite Township Cemetery in Amasa.
