Colleen A. Lessor

KINGSFORD — Colleen A. Lessor, 89, of Kingsford, passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020, at ManorCare Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Kingsford.

Colleen was born Dec. 16, 1930, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Edward and Lola (Vansickle) Hayes. She attended school in Kingsford and married Floyd “Buddy” Lessor on April 25, 1949, in Kingsford. He preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 2003.

Colleen worked at Garden Village and the Kingsford Junior High School as a cook for over 26 years, retiring in 1993. She loved “her students” and was proud to play a small role in their school experience.

Colleen enjoyed picking berries, making jam, cooking, singing and, more than anything, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was the rock of the family, loved by many, and made a huge impact on all the lives she touched.

She is survived by her son, Rick Lessor (Tammy Labonte) of Iron Mountain; her siblings, Joan Tinti, Lola Zawada, Mike (Dar) Hayes, Pat (Bonnie) Hayes, Dina Hayes and Ginger Hayes; her grandchildren, Tom (Kelly) Quick, Travis (Angelina) Quick, Nick (April) Harwath, Lindsey (Brad) Cowling and Tye Labonte; great-grandchildren Ashley, Cole, Kailyn, Connor Quick, Dylan, Paisley, Stella, Londin, and Farah Quick, Jessica and Jason Harwath, Adyson and Michael Weber; two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law and special friend, Beverly Conery; brother-in-law Lenard (Betty) Lessor; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dixie Quick; son-in-law, Tom Quick; and two brothers, George and Eddie Hayes.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at ManorCare for their care of Grandma. A very special thank you to Marissa, who was by her side when her family could not be.

Private family services will be held.

Condolences to the family of Colleen A. Lessor may be expressed online at www.ernashfuneralhomes.com.

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home with the arrangements.
