Franklin Elmer Lindgren

Franklin Lindgren

NIAGARA, Wis. — Franklin Elmer Lindgren, 81, of Niagara passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, at Maryhill Manor in Niagara.

Franklin was born March 17, 1939, in Iron Mountain, the son of Elmer and Marion (Roell) Lindgren. A lifelong resident of the area, he graduated from Niagara High School in 1957.

He married Jeanne Piette on Sept. 12, 1964.

Frank took pride in his work ethic. The Niagara Paper Mill was like a second home for 47 years of his life. Overtime, extra shifts, and holidays afforded many family Disney vacations. If Frank wasn’t working at the mill, he was building a house, putting on a roof, or making furniture in his basement workshop. All of his work was fueled by a pot of black coffee.

Sunday mornings were always set aside for worship, despite a night shift.

The perfection of his lawn set a standard for how he expected things to be done.

He enjoyed his walks throughout the town, especially along the river trail as he listened to Suring Radio on his transistor.

Traveling to Branson, Mo., for 24 years in a row became a highlight later in life.

The sights and sounds were a good time, but home is where Frank was happiest, in the house that he built, and yes, the grass was always greener.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; his son, Eric (Susan) Lindgren; his two daughters, Amy (Bill) McNaughton and Johanna (Jason) Belongia; a brother, Roger (Susan) Lindgren; and seven grandchildren, Isabella, Anika, Nolan, Madeline, Megan, Carly, and Stella.

Franklin was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Swanson, and his parents, Elmer and Marion Lindgren.

Private family services will be held.
