PEMBINE, Wis. — Ila R. Sparpana, 77, of Pembine, Wis., formerly of Niagara, Wis., passed away Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, at Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay, Wis. Our dear Lord has taken another angel home.

She was born Nov. 21, 1943, in Niagara, daughter of the late Walter and Hester (Korten) Rucinski. Ila grew up in Niagara and was a graduate of Niagara High School, class of 1961.

She married Robert “Bob” Sparpana on Oct. 4, 1969. They resided in Kingsford, for a few years before moving to Niagara, where they resided many years. In 2012, they moved to Pembine.

Ila worked at the Oscar G Johnson Veterans Hospital in Iron Mountain, in the medical billing department for over 20 years before retiring.

Ila and Bob enjoyed camping at Rivers Bend Campground in Breitung Township and wintering in Zapata, Texas. She also enjoyed knitting, cooking, the outdoors, and especially the time she spent with her grandchildren and family.

Survivors include her loving husband of 51 years, Bob; one son, Robert (Vicki) Sparpana of Kingsford; one daughter, Sherry (Robert) Pomeroy of Aurora, Wis.; one brother, John (Lori) Rucinski of Florence, Wis.; four sisters, Lysle Rugg of Niagara, Wis., Bonnie (Ron) DeCremer of Homestead, Wis., Claire (John) Berry of Niagara, and Tanya (Jake) Payette of Niagara,; five grandchildren, Angie (Troy), Kimberly, Amber, Sarah, and Katelyn; nine great-grandchildren, Kailey, Evan, Elijah, Lucas, Alaric, Maverick, Andre, Jocelyn, and Svetlana; two brothers-in-law, Joe (Eileen) Sparpana of Breitung Township and Bill (Bonnie) Sparpana of Colorado; three sisters-in-law, Violet (Bill) Flatka of Breitung Township, Catherine Hooper of Lower Michigan, and Carol (Hank) Miotke of Atlanta, Ga.; and her two beloved dogs, Patches and Snoopy.

In addition to her parents, Ila was preceded in death by one grandson, Bradley; one brother, Bobby Rucinski; three sisters, Patty Wescher, Mitzi Ebdon, and Kay Coppens; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 2, from 9 until 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara, Wis. The funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Fr. Michael Lightner will officiate.

Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery.
