Edward J. Rometti

He was born on April 19, 1944, in Stambaugh, the son of the late Herman and Joan (Hoinowski) Rometti. He attended and graduated from the Iron River Schools, with the Class of 1962.

Ed married Dorothy Dottie Blashka on Aug. 31, 1963, in Manassas, Va. and the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2013.

He was employed in the construction industry for 45 years, prior to his retirement.

Ed was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River and Labor Union1329. He enjoyed spending time at camp, hunting, fishing, watching the Packers play and NASCAR racing.

He is survived by his wife, Dottie; daughter, Kelly (David) McCabe of Manitowoc, Wis.; brother, Marvin (Sharon) Rometti of Iron River; brothers-in-law, Dan (Connie) Blashka, Dick (Mary) Blashka, and Mike Martin; sister-in-law, Carol Blashka; grandchildren, Jessica (fiance Jake Fuller) McCabe and Justin (Alison) McCabe; great-grandchildren, Zoey, Kaden, Corbin, and Andrew; nieces, nephews, extended family, many great and special friends, and special nephew, Ryan Blashka.

Ed was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Joe and Marie Blashka; nephew, Stephen Rometti; niece, Becky Blashka; and sister-in-law, Shelly Martin.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 17, from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.

Funeral service will follow at noon with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to officiate. At the request of the family and the funeral home, masks are required and please respect social distancing.

Per Ed’s request, the dress code for the service is blue jeans and flannel shirts. Due to Covid, there will be no luncheon to follow.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
