Keith Cameron

IRON MOUNTAIN – Keith Wayne Cameron, 89, born Aug. 1, 1931, was called home to heaven on March 20, 2021, on the wings of angels to be with his beloved while surrounded by his family.

Keith, “Pops” (as he was called), was born in Iron Mountain and spent all his life, the only child, to Malcolm and Josephine (St. Louis) Cameron. Pops’ father, Malcolm, passed away when Pops was 12-years-old. His mother then married Albert Quick, they built a house on Hamilton Lakes, and Pops resided with them.

On Feb. 1, 1969, Pops married Rose Marie Stafford and her four children. “I asked the Lord to bless me with an angel in my life — A woman I could treasure as a loving friend and wife — And so you came from Heaven as the answer to my prayer — And changed my world forever through the precious love we share.”

Keith was a member of the Elks Club, and V.F.W. Keith, along with his beloved Dee, sang in St. Mary and St. Joseph church choir. His spot in church was the third row, end seat, right side. After retirement, Keith and Rose enjoyed breakfast at B’s café and lunch at the C&R. On Fridays, mom got her hair done, and dad delivered loaves of bread to the “girls.” He also made bread for the priests at St. Mary’s and Joe’s.

Keith cared for Rose endearingly until her passing, September 2013. Ever since Keith longed to be with her, his prayers have finally been answered.

He served in the Korean War from Aug. 25, 1950, until July 8, 1954, where he was a radio/navigator on a B-29 bomber. Because of declining health, he was unable to go on the veteran’s honor flight.

Keith leaves behind his children, Marc Stafford (Trisha Jarona), Myke Stafford (April Maroney), Toni and Don Kozlowski, and Dann Stafford (Julie Bybee); grandchildren Ben Kozlowski, Chrissy and Jim Jenkins, Eric and Emily Kozlowski, Josh and Vicky Koslowski, Katelyn (His Goddaughter) and Kyle Kubacki, Bailey Stafford, Jacob Stafford, Melissa Stafford, and Tanya Stafford; great-grandchildren James, Max and Connor Jenkins, Kameron and Keegan Kubacki, Trevon and Taraji Stafford, Logan Kozlowski and the newest and only great-granddaughter, Natalie Kozlowski. Due to unforeseen circumstances, he was unable to hold her.

Every name listed above would have a different life it wasn’t for Keith. Thank you for choosing to be our father.

Keith was preceded in death by the love of his life, Rose Marie; one granddaughter, Amber Rose Stafford; his parents, Malcolm Cameron, Albert and Josephine (Cameron) Quick; grandparents, Alfred and Emma St. Louis; cousins, Art and Carbor St. Louis; his hunting buddies and of course his dog, Major.

He spent a few years in the care of his daughter, Toni and son-in-law Don at their home and finally set up residence at Roubal’s Nursing Home in Stephenson.

We want to thank Roubal’s staff for treating him like family during the last year and a half. God bless them all.

In accordance with Keith’s wishes, private family services will be held. Burial will take place in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
