IRON MOUNTAIN — It is with great sadness that the family of Evelyn Verley announced her passing on May 3, 2021. Evelyn will be remembered by her husband of 65 years, Norman; and children David, Keith and Penny.
Evelyn was born Sept. 23, 1934, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Rudolph and Ingeborg (Engman) Steele. She graduated from Felch High School in 1953 and resided in the area for most of her life.
Evelyn married Norman Verley on March 17, 1956, at Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Norman; three children, David (Mary Lynn) Verley of Norway, Keith Verley of Merriman and Penny Verley of Kingsford; brothers, Dennis (Sandy) Steele, Duane “Cardy” (Donna) Steele, Gerald “Jim” Steele, Roger (Patsy) Steele and Larry Steele; a sister, Carol (Mike) Gilligan; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was also preceded in death by a grandson, Clint Fisher; three brothers, John, Vernon and Edward “Pepper” Steele; a sister, Marilyn Jacklovitz; and sisters-in-law, Connie and Norma Steele.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 7, at Quinnesec Cemetery. The Rev. David Johnson will officiate.
