Judith Brown

Niagara, Wis. — Judith “Judy” Anne Brown, 82, went to sleep on Monday, May 10, 2021, and is now awaiting her reunion with her husband and love of her life, Robert, to future Paradise here on earth.

This is the hope our dear mother had held since May 2, 1970, when she dedicated her life as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Right down to the end, she loved sharing this hope with anyone who would listen.

She was born Jan. 27, 1939, to the late Elden and Anne (Ferch) Outcalt in Chicago, and who later moved to Hermansville and Norway, where Judith graduated in 1957.

Judy was a vibrant woman so full of life who loved her family dearly and loved hosting others. She had a beautiful voice and loved sharing songs with all her good friends and family, especially around a campfire.

One of her favorite things to do was watching the sunsets at Lake Antoine. Judy was an avid reader and would literally devour books, whether of a spiritual or historical nature. She loved the outdoors, walking, and camping until it was no longer possible.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, (Elden and Anne Outcalt); her husband, Robert Brown; sons, Ever James and Andrew Robert; brothers, Elden and Milo Outcalt.

Survivors include her daughters, Laura (Kevin) Bemis of Aurora, Wis., Susan (Kevin Tank) Wolfe of Glidden, Wis., Elizabeth (Chris) Carlson of Conover, Wis.; grandchildren, Jesse (Lori) Brown, Michael (Jane) Wolfe, Molly (Chris) Overberg, Jonah Carlson, Zeb Carlson, Ian Wolfe, and Riley Carlson; one great-grandson Dylan Brown; step-grandsons, Erik and Kalvin Tank; siblings, Frank (Mary Lou) Outcalt of Scottsdale, Ariz., Helen (Jim) Walker of Iron Mountain, and Pearl Kay Outcalt of Arizona; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She also leaves her precious “Kitty Kat” Dora, her faithful companion, for the last 10 years. Judy resided with her daughter Laura and son-in-law Kevin for the last six months in Aurora until she went to Freeman’s Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on March 31, 2021, and was loved and treated like a queen right up until the end.

Judy was the perfect description of the capable woman as written in the bible book of Proverbs 31:10-31. She worked hard at providing for and taking care of her family. She worked many jobs over the years and was especially proud of being one of the first women to be hired at the Niagara of Wisconsin Papermill as a millwright, where she worked for 10 years. After that, her focus was the ministry and teaching others about the Bible and conducted Bible studies right up until she went into the hospital.

We have so many people that our family would like to thank that helped us along the journey with our dear mother the past ten years since our father passed. We could not have gotten through it without the help of the Kingsford and Niagara Congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses, her medical team at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Freeman’s Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, her Primary Care Physician Dr. Beth Schroeder MD and especially Dr. Adina Anderson, DPM who became a part of our family.

In accordance with Judy’s wishes, private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to jw.org (Donations Worldwide Work): otherwise, cards may be sent to The Judy Brown Family, c/o Laura Bemis, PO Box 3053, Kingsford, MI 49802.
