Glenn Peterson

NORWAY — Glenn Roger Peterson, 81, of Norway, passed away surrounded by his family, Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.

He was born January 4, 1940 in Norway, the son of the late Lawrence “Happy” and Theresa (Cologna) Peterson. Glenn married Patricia Bonner on Sept. 18, 1965, in St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway.

Glenn owned and operated Peterson Welding, a family business, in Norway since taking over ownership from his father in 1977. He remained involved with the business with his sons until his death. Being able to work alongside of his two sons was his greatest enjoyment in life.

In 1987 he and his wife built the Dairy Queen in Norway, which they owned and operated for 27 years.

While Glenn wasn’t working, he was with his family at camp, known as “Camp Carney” in the early years and “The Hemlock Lodge” in later years.

Hunting season was always the family vacation. Glenn loved hunting and he was the first one sitting in his blind in the morning. He also enjoyed fishing and trapping. Glenn believed in planting trees every year and planted hundreds over his lifetime.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia; sons, Roger (Rhonda) Peterson and Andrew Peterson; grandsons, Angelo and Julio Peterson; brother, Bertil (Donna) Peterson; nephews, Chris (Cindy) Peterson, Michael Hynds, Dan (Melissa) Hynds, Robert (Michelle) Bonner and Ron (Jacki) Bonner; a niece, Monica Hynds; brother-in-law, Robert (Mary) Bonner; sister-in-law, Barbara (Phil) Keen; several great-nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Jewel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dolores Hynds and nephew, John Peterson.

In accordance with Glenn’s wishes, private family funeral services will be held at a later date.

Interment will be held at the Norway Township Cemetery.

Family would like to Thank the staff at Dickinson County Healthcare and Dickinson Home Health for the excellent care Glenn received.
