Bonnie ‘BJ’ Ketola

AMASA — Bonnie Jean “BJ” Ketola of Amasa, passed away on Jan. 16, 2022, at her home surrounded by family.

Bonnie was born in Waukegan, Ill., to Robert and Valerie Conn on Sept. 11, 1952. She went to school at Waukegan High School and married Robert Ketola of Amasa, on Jan. 18, 1975.

As a child Bonnie loved to vacation with her family to Amasa, where she eventually married a local boy, Bub Ketola. Together they built a home, where they lived their entire life. Bonnie enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed camping, canoeing with “The Neighbors,” and hanging out with friends playing cards. She worked various jobs throughout her life. During retirement, Bob and Bonnie built a camp on the Net River in Amasa, their life-long dream. Her greatest enjoyment in life became spending time with her grandchildren.

Bonnie is survived by her children, Desiree (Jamie) Maki and Sommer Ketola; siblings, Michael (Ellie) Conn, Timothy Conn, Patrick (Mary) Conn, and Kimberly (Mike) Arnos; grandchildren, Zachary Sabine and Lucas Sabine; stepgrandchild, Jakob Maki; siblings-in-law David (Geri) Ketola, Larry Schiavo, Jim (Betty) Ketola, Jerry (Elaine) Ketola, Linda Besiak, and Philip (Peggy) Ketola; and many nieces, nephews, cousins; and special friend, Carl Hiltonen.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ketola; parents, Robert and Valerie Conn; and sister, Susan Morin.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 22, at the Nash Funeral home in Crystal Falls, with a memorial service to follow at noon at the funeral home. Pastor Kurt Spicer will officiate.
