KINGSFORD — Polly Ann Peterson, 82, of Kingsford, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, at the Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kingsford.
Polly was born May 27, 1939, in Kingsford, Mich., daughter of the late Forrest and Lorette (Burbey) Post. She graduated from Kingsford High School, Class of 1957, before attending Northern Michigan University. On Sept. 27, 1958, she married Leonard Phillip Peterson. She was a long-time member of American Martyrs Catholic Church.
Polly was an amazing mother, daughter, wife, grandmother and friend. Her family, friends and community were very important to her.
She loved to teach and was a marketing teacher at the Dickinson County High School tech center.
She spent many years involved in the American Business Women’s Association where she ended up being president and received the Women of the Year Award. She was a lifetime member of the retired schoolteachers association.
She loved new adventures and travel. She enjoyed the outdoors. Camping, skiing, gardening and swimming were some of her favorites.
Polly is survived by her husband of 63 years, Phil; a son, Scott Peterson (fiance, Juliana Sobanski) of Neenah, Wis.; a daughter, Lori Ann (Herman) Hinz of Green Bay, Wis.; and two grandchildren, Aubrey and Callie Hinz.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Post.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Father Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
