IRON MOUNTAIN — Charles R. “Charlie” Garbrecht Sr., 61, Iron Mountain, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Oct. 10, 1960, to the late Ronald Maurice and Reta (Hodges) Garbrecht in Sault Ste. Marie.

Charlie was an amazing dad, always providing great advice and never letting you leave the house without gas or lunch money. He was a great storyteller, always making those around him laugh and finding humor in any situation. Charlie was very proud of his younger days and telling stories of his many adventures. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and had a truly special bond with his grandson, Wyatt.

Charlie was a jack of all trades who was always buying and trading. He loved anything with a motor, enjoyed restoring corvettes and other classic cars, and was proud of his Harley and Corvette collection. Charlie was a master body shopman and enjoyed collecting antiques and oddities.

He enjoyed watching “Bob’s Burgers,” NASCAR, Barrett-Jackson Auto Auctions, and “Gunsmoke” and was an avid Packer fan. Charlie’s grandkids were his pride and joy. He always took care of others and was a special friend to many. His love set you straight, saw you through, and always made a difference.

Charlie worked at Ford Airport with Avis rental car with Bob Baldinelli for 30 years and proudly worked for Teamsters Union 329 at Lodal.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Kingsford; two sons, Charlie (Amber) Garbrecht Jr. of Plover, Wis., and Matthew (Alise) Robinson of Kingsford; four daughters, Katey (Joshua) Bedgood of Hermansville, Lindsey Garbrecht of Norway, Kayla (Ty) Conley of Iron Mountain, and Carissa (Trever) Steva of Iron Mountain; one brother, Dan (Kelly) Garbrecht of Kingsford; three sisters, Rebecca (Terry) Meinoff of Iron Mountain, Debra (Joseph) Anderson, of Norway, and Lori (Joe) Garbrecht of Iron Mountain; 11 grandchildren, Wyatt, Brandon, Kylie, Myla, Daija, Kamden, Alivia, Tristin, Michael, Ronald, and Jackson. He is also survived by his first wife, Karen Brow; special nephew, Nate; numerous nieces and nephews; many friends, including a very special friend, Melissa Davidson.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Garbrecht; one aunt, Tina Swailes; and special friend, DaLana Conley.

Charlie will be remembered as a kind soul with a golden heart who will live in our hearts, thoughts, and many memories of the times we loved.
