Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Trieber

DUNDEE, Mich. — On April 28, 2022, Betty Trieber, 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family.

Betty was born in Detroit, on Nov. 9, 1931, to Joseph Wojtysiak and Sophia (Zombek) Wojtysiak. Betty was one of four children. She attended school in Hamtramck, Mich. graduating from St. Ladislaus. It was Dec. 30, 1950, when Betty married, the late Kenneth Trieber. Together Betty and Kenneth had five children.

Betty and Kenneth were members of American legion Post 340 in Hermansville, Michigan. Betty also worked as a dedicated bus aide at Gibraltar School District until she retired in 1983. She joined Kenneth in the Upper Peninsula where they made their home in Hermansville. Betty liked to garden and be outdoors. The wild violet was her favorite flower. She enjoyed quilting, cross stitch, needle point, sewing and visiting family and friends. Betty was a devout catholic.

Betty had been preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Wojtysiak and Sophia (Zombek) Wojtysiak; her husband, Kenneth Trieber; her brothers, Richard, and Raymond; and her sister, Rita.

To cherish Betty’s fondest memories, Betty leaves behind five children, Damian Treiber, Ruth Marie (Gradon) Wilds of North Carolina, Joyce (Charles) Oestrike, Marcia (Paul) Kubala, and Mary Beth (Glenn) Smith of West Virginia; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

A private mass was held at St. Gabriel Parish, St. Irene Church; 576 East Main Street, Dundee, Mich. on Friday, April 29, 2022. The burial of her cremated remains will take place at Norway Township Cemetery in Norway, date to be determined.
