IRON MOUNTAIN — Virginia “Ginny” D. Nephew, 88, of Iron Mountain, passed peacefully to her rest in Jesus, forever beyond the torment of sin, on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at her daughter’s home. She is now awaiting Her Savior’s resurrection call.
Ginny was born on Nov. 4, 1933, in Wausau, Wis., the daughter of the late Lawrence and Leona (Goede) Jaecks. She grew up in Wausau and graduated high school from the Wisconsin Academy in Columbus, Wis. Ginny married Jess Y. Nephew on Sept. 7, 1952, in Wausau. He preceded her in death on May 23, 2021.
Ginny, with her husband Jess, taught school for two years in Eau Claire, Wis.; four years in Wausau, Wis., and four years in Green Bay, Wis., before becoming a camp manager/camp director in Chetek, Wis., Grayling, Mich., Wilkeson, Wash., and eventually Sagola. She enjoyed gardening, crafts and anything with nature.
Survivors include one son, Jim (Jeanne) Nephew of Florence, Wis.; two daughters, Marcia (Dean) Minett of Newberry and Esther (David) Lorenson of Florence; three grandchildren, Kasia (Guy) Goodness, Kirstin (Sam) Hasty, and Lucas Minett; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel Jess Goodness and Zachary Grayson Goodness; and two sisters-in-law, Lois Jaecks of Ooltewah, Tenn., and Helen Nephew of Zeeland, Mich.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jess, Ginny was preceded in death by one brother, Lenard Jaecks; and one brother-in-law, Harry Nephew.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
