Edwin ‘Ed’ Gudowicz

TWO HARBORS, Minn. — Edwin “Ed” John Gudowicz, 69, died Friday, July 22nd, 2022 at home in Two Harbors, Minn. surrounded by his family.

Ed was born on July 30,1952 to Edwin and Julia (Wall) Gudowicz in Laona, Wis. He grew up in Armstrong Creek, Wis. spending many years working alongside his parents and siblings at the Gudowicz Store.

After graduating from Goodman Armstrong High School, Eddie attended University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point earning a degree in forestry. Upon graduation from UWSP, he was hired as a forester for Louisiana-Pacific in Goodman.

Several years later, he was transferred to Hayward, Wis. where he met wife, Sue (Primley). Ed and Sue were married in 1984. They were then transferred to Two Harbors, where they raised their family. Ed retired from Louisiana-Pacific in 2018 having spent 42 years with the company.

Ed enjoyed hunting and spending time with his friends, but his greatest passion was his family. He loved watching his children and grandchildren in their various activities. He was proud of them and their accomplishments.

Ed was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church where he served as usher for many years. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, served on the City Recreation Board, and gave many school presentations on forestry to children in northern Minnesota.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sue (Primley) and his children, Scott Amundson, Erin (Todd Johnson) Gudowicz, E.J. (Cassondra) Gudowicz, and Collen (Rebecca Kalla) Gudowicz. He was blessed with five grandchildren, Dana Marksmeier, Shelby (Jake) Dahlgren, Zandar Rubesh, Keegan Gudowicz and Kyler Gudowicz and a great-grandson Gordon John Dahlgren. He is also survived by his siblings Julie Ann (Dale) Cross, Ray (Connie) Gudowicz, Jim Gudowicz and Mary Jane (Steve) Roell, along with many nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Julia (Wall) Gudowicz and many aunts and uncles.

On Aug. 19, 2022 a Funeral Mass for Ed took place at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Two Harbors.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sept. 30 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Armstrong Creek at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.

Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
