William Gendron

He was born in Norway on Jan. 26, 1941, the son of the late Patrick and Stella (LaVigne) Gendron.

Bill graduated from Norway High School in 1960.

He married Shirley Harvey on Oct. 14, 1961, in St. Barbara Catholic Church in Vulcan.

Bill served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968, during the Vietnam era. After returning from the Army, he started working at the Dickinson County Road Commission and worked there until he retired in 2004.

Bill enjoyed anything outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Anytime he could spend with his family was a highlight for him.

Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years Shirley; sons, Gregory (Clare) Gendron and Brian Gendron; granddaughter, Rachel Gendron; brothers, Gerald (Judy) Gendron, George (Diann) Gendron and Ronald (Karen) Gendron; sister, Rosalind Schultz; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Gendron and Joann Gendron; brother-in-law, Bill Harvey; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters in-law, Robert and Dorothy Gendron, Eugene, Donald, Richard Gendron and Patrick and Ellen Gendron; sister and brother in-law, Jeanne and Bert Proehl; brother in-law, Leonard Schultz; sister in-law, Joan Harvey; sister in-law and brother in-law, Rita and Clarence Vivio; nephews, Paul and Todd Gendron.

Family will greet friends on Monday, Dec. 19 from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Vulcan.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a.m. at the church with Fr. Marty Flynn officiating.

Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery.
