Patrick D. Chartier
QUINNESEC — Patrick D. Chartier, 60, of Quinnesec passed away on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
Patrick was born on April 3, 1962, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Donald “Pete” and Shirley Chartier. Patrick married the love of his life, Brenda (Watson) Chartier, on Sept. 12, 1981.
Patrick received his GED from Kingsford High School. He was employed by Khoury’s for many years. After his first battle with brain cancer in 1991, he went on to become a truck driver. He worked for several trucking companies through the years before his first brain tumor cut his career short, causing him to become disabled from radiation necrosis of the brain.
Pat fought brain cancer for 32 long years. His first brain tumor was a grade 3 astrocytoma. His second brain tumor, diagnosed a year ago, was removed and found to be a grade 4 glioblastoma. Pat’s follow-up MRI in August 2022 showed no recurrence. Unfortunately, his cognitive abilities suddenly spiraled downhill, and it was found that he did have a recurrence, one that could not be treated. Pat lost his lengthy battle to this disease with his devoted wife by his side.
Patrick enjoyed playing baseball, pool and darts in his younger years. In later years his favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing with his brothers, daughters and his son. Pat was also an avid Packer fan. When he wasn’t watching the Packers, he was watching one of his favorite tv shows: “Law and Order” or “NCIS.”
He also loved to spend time with his dogs, Rudy and Tinker, who are no doubt waiting for him over the Rainbow Bridge, and also his princesses, Belle and Nala, who miss him dearly. Pat spoiled his dogs by feeding them his food at every meal!
Pat is survived by his loving wife, caregiver, and advocate, Brenda (Watson) Chartier; daughters, Brooke Chartier Shogren, Mandy Chartier, and Teri (Jon) Wilder; son, James (Jackie) Chartier; six grandchildren, Abigail (Tanner) McCarthy, Sierra DeBernardi, Emma Witter, Lexy Shogren, Ethan Wilder, and Grace Wilder; brother, Ricky Chartier; sister, Paula Peterson; brother-in-law, Len Lindholm; sisters-in-law, Chery Croft, Sandy Chartier, Pam (Bill) Revord, Cindy (Tony) Vivio, Joanne Saunders, Julie Cotton, and Margo Bradley; stepsisters-in-law, Christine Watson, Donna (Dennis) Sjoquist; stepmother-in-law, Beverley Watson; aunt, Mae Chartier; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pat was preceded in death by his father, Donald (Pete) Chartier; mother, Shirley Chartier; brothers, Randy Chartier and Rodney Chartier; sister, Robin Lindholm; father-in-law, James Watson; mother-in-law, Patricia Watson; and a brother-in-law, Marc Watson.
A visitation for Patrick will be held on Sunday, Feb. 19, from noon to 2 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. service at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
