John “Jack” Faccio Sr.

IRON MOUNTAIN — John Lee “Jack” Faccio Sr., 89, of Iron Mountain passed away at home on Friday, March 3, 2023.

Jack was born in Hermansville on Oct. 10, 1933, son of the late Julius and Dorothy (Newell) Faccio. He was a graduate of Hermansville High School.

After graduation he attended St. Norbert College of Green Bay before completing his B.S. from Northern Michigan University. A talented athlete, he excelled as the co-captain of the NMU football team, and ran track for NMU, as well. Jack was proud to enlist with the U.S. Army.

On Jan. 16, 1960, Jack was married to the former Betty Duquaine. Jack’s work with the State of Michigan took them to Iron Mountain, Newberry and ultimately to Sault Ste. Marie where he retired on Dec. 31, of 1994.

A few months later on May 22, 1995, Betty preceded him in death.

Jack enjoyed the beauty of nature and spent as much time outdoors as he could. He particularly enjoyed golfing, biking, and hiking. He also loved spending time with his family and friends, including his second families at T&T and Holiday Kitchen.

Jack will be missed by his children, Cheryl Larson, Craig (Kim) Faccio, Mark (Tamara) Faccio, and John Jr. (Kimberly) Faccio; daughter-in-law, Michelle Faccio; grandchildren, Ian, Jenna, Casey, Anjolie, Jake, Joseph, Hannah, Jack, Christopher McMurray, and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Kaile, Dante, Ilianna, Annabelle, and Abigail; and many other family and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Jack is preceded in death by his son, Tony Faccio; and sister, Maxine Whitens.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
