Lynda K. Donovan

Lynda was raised and attended school in Gladstone where she was a 1963 graduate of Gladstone High School. Following graduation, Lynda moved to Milwaukee to attend school to become a key punch operator.

The former Lynda Skellenger married John Carlson in 1965 and he preceded her in death in 1993. In 1963, they relocated to the U.P. and settled in Escanaba. Lynda married Guy Donovan in 1979 and he also preceded her in death in 2017. She was a wonderful cook, baker, and cake decorator. She loved crocheting and giving her afghans to her family.

She enjoyed watching Jeopardy, was an avid Detroit Lions fan, and a huge animal lover. Lynda was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend to all.

Lynda is survived by her son, John H. Carlson Jr. of Quinnesec; daughter, Erin (Erik) Biggs of Dearborn; grandchildren, Brandon, Owen, Sunshine, Carissa, and Melody; siblings, Marcia Carlson of St. Paul, Minn., John (Ruthann) Skellenger of Gladstone, and Robert (Marsha) Skellenger of Gladstone; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Lynda was preceded in death by her son, James Carlson.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Lynda will follow at 1 p.m. in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Steven Cowen officiating.
