IRON MOUNTAIN — Ruth A. Phillips, 73, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay, Wis., with her family by her side.
She was born on July 13, 1949, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Richard and Jeanette (Tomassoni) Patterson. On June 21, 1975, Ruth was married to Larry Phillips. He preceded Ruth in death on Sept. 16, 1997. Ruth retired from Iron Mountain Public Schools where she worked as a crossing guard and custodian. In her free time Ruth enjoyed volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul, visiting the animal shelter, and spending time with her family. Ruth had a love for Neil Diamond music, Patrick Swayze, Matthew McConaughey, and watching movies.
Ruth will be missed by her children, Melissa Piper (Jason Moore), of Iron River, Robert Phillips, of Iron Mountain, and Mary Anderson (Kyle), of Henderson, Nev.; grandchildren, Shelby Piper (Shane McPherson), Vance Phillips, Lacie Phillips, Elsa Anderson and Reed Anderson; a great-grandson, Colby McPherson; siblings, Marilyn Shaw, Rick Patterson, Mike Patterson, and Patti (Jim) Menza; and many other family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her brother, Jim Patterson; sister-in-law, Geri Patterson; and brother-in-law, Brian Shaw.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home on Saturday, with a memorial service starting at noon.
Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruth’s name to benefit the Almost Home Animal Shelter.
