CHANNING -- Paul S. Giltner, 80, of Channing, passed away on Friday, Aug. 4, 2023 at his home.
He was born on March 7, 1943, in Aurora, Ill., the son of Marion B. and Mellean M. (Hedgesbeth) Giltner. Paul was raised in Downers Grove, Ill. He proudly served in the United States Army from February 1961 until his honorable discharge in February 1964.
On Aug. 17, 1991, he married the former Laura Cheyne and they made their home in Wheaton, Ill. Together they shared almost 30 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2021.
Paul spent the majority of his years working as an engine testing technician for CNH Case International Harvester. After retirement, he and Laura relocated to Channing in 2007.
He enjoyed being a part of the Michigan Rendezvous group and was very active with the Boy Scouts.
He liked hunting and collecting antiques. Paul was a member of the Muzzle Loaders Association and Grace Presbyterian Church.
Listed among survivors include his children, Cynthia (Brian) Wingate of Palmetto, Fla., and Thomas Giltner of Aurora, Ill.; several grandchildren; and her brother, Johnny Giltner of Ohio.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Laura; daughter, Carla Giltner; sister, Francis; and brothers, Ray, Larry, Kenny, and Eddie.
The funeral service will be at 5 p.m. on Friday at Grace Presbyterian Church in Sagola.
