ARMSTRONG CREEK, Wis. — Ronald John Pyrcz, 72, of Armstrong Creek, passed away on Friday, Aug. 4, 2023, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
He was born June 7, 1951, to Adolph and Cecelia (Moddie) Pyrcz. Ron was raised in Armstrong Creek, with his older brother Chester and his younger sister Rebecca “Becky.” When Ron was around 9 years old, his parents moved to Kingsford, to be closer to his dad’s work at the VA. He graduated in 1969 from Kingsford High School and eventually joined the United States Air Force.
While in the Air Force and stationed in the Philippines, Ron married Romula “Mila” Oñada on Nov. 26, 1974. (This fall they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.) After leaving the Air Force, Ron and Mila lived in Chicago, for a short time before moving back to Armstrong Creek in 1976. Ron worked at the Kingsford Post Office and retired after 40 years of employment.
Ron enjoyed playing tennis, making firewood, gardening in his flower beds, fishing and bird watching. He especially loved being a husband, dad, grandpa and uncle.
Surviving Ron is his wife of 49 years, Mila; his daughter, Mackenzie (Pat); and granddaughter, Madison Johnson. He also leaves his brother, Chester A. Pyrcz; special nephew, Chester M. Pyrcz; his favorite niece, Bonnie Joe Pyrcz; nephew, Samuel Pyrcz; great-nephew, Boone Lariso; great-nieces, Autumn Skye Gerow, Evelyn and Augusta Pyrcz; and sister-in-law, Linda Kowalkowski.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Becky.
