NORWAY -- Willard Joseph Turini, 87, of Norway, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center – Dickinson in Iron Mountain.
He was born May 11, 1936, in Norway, the son of the late Albert and Rose (Ziller) Turini.
Willard graduated from Vulcan High School in 1955.
He served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1959, when he traveled to many parts of the world. From there he went to work at Lake Shore in Kingsford, where he worked for 30 years. He retired from Systems Control in 2003.
Willard married Carol Jean Hogberg on Oct. 7, 1961, at St. Mary Church in Norway. She preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 2022.
Willard enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and spending time at deer camp. He was also an avid gardener. When he wasn’t in his garden, he could often be found in his garage, where he spent many years sharpening tools and blades for others. He especially liked watching his grandsons’ sports and school events, which he rarely missed. He loved to socialize with close friends and family. Visitors were frequent and welcome in their home.
Willard is survived by his daughter, Debbie (David) Dapoz of Norway; son, Dan (Melissa) Turini of Norway; grandsons, Josh and Trevor Dapoz and Bret (Marchella Mariucci) Turini; sister-in-law, Lois Hogberg; and many special friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his brother Donald Turini; brother-in-law James Hogberg Jr.; and a very special friend and cousin, Kenneth Pedrotti.
Family will greet friends on from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15 at St. Mary Church in Norway.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with Fr. Marty Flynn officiating.
Interment will be held at the Norway Township Cemetery.
