David Henry Dirksen
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — David Henry Dirksen, fondly known as Dave, passed away peacefully on Aug. 26, 2023, in Grand Rapids. He was born on April 12, 1947, in Iron Mountain, to Raymond and Fern Dirksen.
Dave was a loving, kind and thoughtful man who dedicated his life to serving others. His professional career was spent as a Park Manager for the Department of Natural Resources, a role he fulfilled with unwavering dedication for more than 25 years. He was a born volunteer, always ready to lend a helping hand.
Dave and his beloved wife, Margot, were active pillars in the Crystal Falls community. They were long-standing members of the Chippewa Sno-Kats Club, where their love for their community and passion for service shone through.
Dave volunteered at Clark Retirement Community for the past 18 years and was named volunteer of the year more than once.
He is survived by his mother, Fern Dirksen; his sister, Susan Yoder; his brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Audrey Dirksen; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margot Dirksen; his father, Raymond Dirksen; and sister, Diane Snyder.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
