Robert B. Blockland

Robert was born in Crystal Falls, on Aug. 14, 1949, to the late Bert and Orpha (Peterson) Blockland. He grew up in Channing, graduated from Channing High School with the Class of 1966 and went straight into the Marine Corps where he proudly served for four years. Robert married Jayna Nelson on April 25, 1969, and throughout their 54 years of marriage, they raised two wonderful sons and enjoyed watching them grow and raise their own families.

Robert was a self-employed mechanic and had a gift for fixing anything mechanical. He loved anything with an engine, and he shared his love and talent with his sons, racing all over with the things he fixed. Robert was also an avid outdoorsman who looked forward to deer hunting season every fall, followed by a winter full of snowmobiling. He was devoted to his church, but at the center of his heart was his family, whom he loved dearly.

Robert is survived by his wife, Jayna; sons, Sean (Jessica) Blockland and Richard (Michelle) Blockland; one brother, Paul (Sandy) Blockland; two sisters, Ruth (Jerry) Leonard and Marion (Rod) Johnson; grandchildren, Lauren, Jerrod (Danielle), Shaunna and Brianna; and four great-grandchildren, River, Easton, Axel and Rain.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Orpha; and a sister, Naomi.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Robert’s name to the Grace Presbyterian Church Food Pantry or the Almost Home Animal Shelter.

A visitation for Robert will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday at Grace Presbyterian Church at 301 First St. in Sagola with a service to follow at noon at the church. Pastor Ryan Flunker will officiate.
