Willis “Frank” Miotti

WILLIS “FRANK” MIOTTI

NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO — Willis “Frank” Miotti, 91, of North Olmsted, passed away on Oct. 21, 2023.

Frank was born Aug. 31, 1932, in Stambaugh, the son of the late Antone and Lenore (Anderson) Miotti. He attended Stambaugh High School, graduating with the Class of 1950.

Following graduation, he attended Michigan Technological University in Houghton, obtaining a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering in 1954. After graduation, he was employed by a subsidiary of Exxon Oil in Venezuela until 1958. He then joined General Electric and completed their Advanced Power Systems Engineering Program (MSEE). Frank continued employment with GE at various locations in the United States until his retirement in 1992.

Frank married the former Barbara Carlson in Jamestown, N.Y., in 1968, when both were employed by GE in Buffalo, N.Y. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on May 31, 2023.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in North Olmsted and attended the Grace Covenant Church in Stambaugh during the many summers he and Barbara spent at Chicagon Lake in their retirement years.

Frank was also a current member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers as well as the Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu Engineering Honor Societies. He was a past member of the American Nuclear Society and the Cleveland Engineering Society.

Frank enjoyed many sports. He was a great fan of the Green Bay Packers, and in earlier years he was an avid trout fisherman on the Paint River and at Cooks Run.

He and Barbara traveled through out the United States and Europe following retirement.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his sisters, Clarice Stefani in 2001 and Phyllis Sablich in 2019.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Steven (Deana) Miotti, of Cumming, Ga., two grandchildren, Courtney and Quinn; and his brother, Jack Miotti of Caspian.

A memorial service will be held in Stambaugh at a later date.
