Roger Kuzak

SAGOLA — Roger George Kuzak, 78, of Sagola passed away in the early hours of Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023.

Roger was born on July 15, 1945, in Chicago, son of the late John and Alice (Colas) Kuzak. He graduated from Channing High School in 1963, where he met his future wife, Estelle, whom he married on June 27, 1964.

Roger shortly joined the Milwaukee Railroad, but when they sold its tracks north of Green Bay, he joined the Escanaba and Lake Superior Railroad. Roger worked as a conductor, an engineer, and a supervisor of locomotive engineers, before retiring as an engineer in 2009.

After retirement, Roger’s favorite place to be was working out in the woods with his good friend and business partner, Terry John McDonald.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Deann (Dee Dee) and Dale Johnson; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Faith Kuzak; a younger brother, Mike (Connie) Kuzak; four grandchildren, Kristel (Brett) Trombley, Katie (Ryan) Lorentzen, Donavon Kuzak and Robert Kuzak; two great-grandchildren, Stella and Vera; a special niece, Nikki Kuzak; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Roger was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Kuzak; his father, John Kuzak; his wife, Estelle Kuzak; his son, Robert Kuzak; his sister, Venessa Kuzak; and his special friend, Donna Pouliot.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, at Grace Presbyterian Church in Sagola with a memorial service at 3 p.m. and a luncheon to follow at the church.

Roger’s nephew, Chris Kuzak, will officiate.
