IRON MOUNTAIN — Terry Alan Testolin, 64, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2023, at Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Terry was born Nov. 11, 1959, in Jerseyville, Ill., the son of Ted and Joanne (Ulery) Testolin. He spent only a few days in Illinois before his family moved to Iron Mountain. Terry graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1977 and then enlisted with the United States Army for seven years as a medic and surgical technician. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Terry started his 37-year career at Dickinson County Hospital in Iron Mountain. In 1988, he met the love of his life, Lynn, who was also working at the hospital. They were later married in Niagara in 1989.
Terry loved to garden. He took much pride in the three large vegetable gardens he tended at his home. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed searching for treasures with his metal detectors. Terry and his wife Lynn spent as much time as they could camping and hunting for agates on the shores of Lake Superior. He was a long-time member of the American Legion, VFW, and the 40 et 8 Club. Terry served as Vice Commander, then Commander, and finally Bingo Chairman for the American Legion for over 15 years. Terry volunteered with these organizations, conducting the Memorial Day Ceremony at the Iron Mountain Cemetery for many years. He was a passionate veteran and volunteered when he could, wherever he was needed. Last year, Terry was elected as a Chairperson of the Dickinson County Republican Party and had to step down due to his illness.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Testolin; daughters, Allison (Kevin) Michel and Claire Testolin; brothers, Tom (Lynn A.) Testolin, and Ted (JoAnn) Testolin; grandson, Harrison Michel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Joanne Testolin; and grandchildren, Ivy and Eden Michel.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Dec. 1 at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A Memorial Service will follow at noon at the funeral home. Pastor Jim Danielson will officiate.
