MARINETTE, Wis. — Daniel J. Miron, 87, of Marinette, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Dec. 26 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.

Born March 19, 1936, son of the late George and Leona (Bourdeau) Miron, he grew up on the Menominee River in Aurora, Wis., and currently lived on the same river in Marinette. He graduated from Kingsford High School in 1954. He received a track scholarship to Marquette University. Daniel graduated from Marquette University in 1958 and Marquette University Law School in 1960.

On Aug. 31, 1957, he married the former Rose Giachino at Immaculate Conception Church in Iron Mountain, and they celebrated 66-1/2 years of marriage.

Daniel had a general law practice in Niagara, Wis., and later in Marinette. He was Marinette County District Attorney and the Peshtigo City attorney. He was a member of the Wisconsin Bar Association for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Marinette Lions Club, Elks Club, Moose Lodge, and the family hunting camp, The Big Horn Club.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Rose; two sons, David (Julie) Miron and Douglas Miron; two daughters, Julianne (Boyd) Janny and Dianne (Nick) Marquardt; his grandchildren, Erin (Scott) Spaeth, Matt Miron, Liz (Joe) Torn, Jessica (Will) Schuett, Jim Miron, Michael Janny, Danielle Rose Janny, and Scott Janny, Stephen Marquardt and Frankie Marquardt; 8 great-grandsons; a daughter-in-law, Suzy Miron; and a sister, Maxine O’Connell.

Along with his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by two sons, Stephen and Thomas Miron; and two sisters, Madylyn Sleeman and Roseanne Legatzke.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Peshtigo, Wis., with Father Edmundo Siguenza officiating.

Burial will take place at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo. Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home is serving the family.
