IRON MOUNTAIN — In loving memory of Douglas Raymond Nelson Sr., born on Dec. 11, 1952, and peacefully departed on Dec. 20, 2023.
He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond; mother, Rose; brother, David; and his son, Douglas Raymond Nelson Jr.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Lynette Libersher; a son, Donald (Bobbie Jo) Nelson; daughter, Cynthia Nelson; daughter-in-law, Skylynn Nelson; and a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Doug spent his early years as a skilled mechanic and an over-the-road trucker. In his retirement, he found joy in gardening, restoring Mopar muscle cars, and spending precious moments with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
At the heart and foundation of the Nelson family, Doug’s vast knowledge and unwavering support created a lasting impact. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, at St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Fr. Janusz Romanek will officiate.
Following Mass, the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 will conduct full military honors at Channing Cemetery.
