NIAGARA, Wis. — Richard “Dick” Payette, 83, of Niagara, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and loved ones on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023, at his home.

He was born on Nov. 24, 1940, in Norway, the son of the late Alcide and Daisy (Bartsch) Payette.

Dick graduated from Niagara High School in 1958.

He married Darlene Wilson on Feb. 10, 1958, at St. Anthony Church in Niagara. She preceded him in death on Dec. 17, 1988.

Dick was an independent insurance agent his whole life, and was a Niagara Township Supervisor for 14 years.

Dick was very active. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing tennis at the Norway tennis courts, playing cards, fishing, walking and traveling.

He loved spending time with his family and friends at Payette’s Landing, socializing and watching Packer games at the North Star, formerly known as Payette’s Tavern.

Dick is survived by his daughters, Debbie (Todd) DeClark, Kim Martinez and Patricia (O’Neil) Summers; grandchildren, Eric, Jason, Brandi and Bridger; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Arya, Norah, Peter, Chloe and Owen; Bernice Siegler, his love and best friend for the past 15 years, and her family; Bill and Janet Spring, Jacob (Patsy) Spring and baby JJ Spring, Tyler Spring; Larry and Carey Siegler, Brittany (Bryce) Dowell, Lexi Siegler and Cooper Siegler.

He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Patricia Dawn.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27 at St. Mary Church in Norway.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with Fr. Marty Flynn officiating.

Interment will follow at the Quinnesec Cemetery.
