Shirlee Johnson

She was born on Feb. 25, 1926, in Norway, the daughter of the late Mario and Rhita (Coombs) Ross.

Shirlee graduated from Norway High School in 1944.

She married Donald Johnson on Nov. 30, 1946, in the parsonage of St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Norway. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2023.

Shirlee was a life member of the Norway Chapter 251, Order of the Eastern Star, Grace United Methodist Church and member of the Grace Service Guild. She enjoyed reading and making ceramics at her dear friend June Brown’s shop.

She was an exceptional mother and wife, her job was to make a home and raise her children, and she did a fantastic job at it.

Shirlee is survived by her son, David (Carol) Johnson; daughter, Wendy (Doyle) Yoder; son-in-law, Dale Thomas; grandchildren, Julie (Scott) Williams, Dan (Angela) Johnson, Harley Miller, Jake (Scott Baccus) Miller, Abe (Ruthie) Yoder, Amanda Yoder and Jordon (Keeley) Thomas; nine great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Girard; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Candy Thomas; brother, Waldo “Bud” Ross; brothers-in-law, Ferdinand Girard and Curt Johnson; and sister-in-law, Marion Johnson.

Family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, at Grace United Methodist Church in Norway.

A Memorial Service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with Pastor Irene White officiating.

Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Optalis Health and Rehabilitation for all the loving care they provided Shirlee during her time there.
