NORWAY — Barbara J. Grenier, 81, of Norway, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center — Dickinson in Iron Mountain.

She was born Sept. 10, 1942, in Norway, daughter of the late Edward and Lorraine (Vanderlin) Trepanier. Barbara grew up in Norway and graduated from Norway High School, Class of 1960. She married Richard Grenier on June 3, 1961, at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Vulcan. They resided in Hermansville for a few years before moving to Norway. Richard passed away on Aug. 4, 2013.

Barbara worked as an insurance agent at Danielson Insurance Agency in Iron Mountain for many years and later worked for Holmberg Insurance Agency in Norway before retiring.

She was an active member of St. Barbara Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and the Norway-Vulcan School Womans Club, where she was active with the Senior Tea Committee for many years, as they honored graduates of Norway High School. Barbara was also active in the Norway Senior Center Ceramic Painting Club. She taught painting at home and enjoyed painting on just about everything and anything. Barbara could always be found attending local sporting events where her children or grandchildren had been playing. She traveled near and far to watch them.

She is survived by three sons, Mark (Cathy) Grenier of Norway, Steven (Melissa) Grenier of Green Bay, Wis., and Paul (Renee) Grenier of Quinnesec; one sister-in-law, Melanie (Ross) Nord of Norway; one brother, Jerry (Martee) Trepanier of Iron Mountain; nine grandchildren, Eryk (Jenna), Kymberly, Anthony (Nicolette), Hailey, Taylor, Rhiannon (Nicholas), Brian, Cole (Katelynn) and Brock (Alena); nine great-grandchildren, Brianna, Blake, Owen, Jaiden, Kaycee, Aristen, Emma, Addilynn and Jackson; two nephews, Ryan and Derek; one niece, Leah; and one adopted son, Tom Moore, who lived with the family for more than a year.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Richard, Barbara was preceded in death by one son, John Grenier; and one brother, David Trepanier.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6 at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Vulcan. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Rev. Fr. Marty Flynn will officiate.

Burial will be in Norway Township Cemetery in the spring.
