IRON MOUNTAIN — Dorothy Mary Schinderle, 79, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, at Freeman Nursing & Rehabilitation of Kingsford.

She was born in Iron Mountain on Feb. 4, 1944, daughter of the late Michael and Sylvia (Norgren) Schinderle. Dorothy was a graduate of Kingsford High School, Class of ’62. In her early years, Dorothy worked as a waitress but more recently she enjoyed working as an in-home caregiver for respite care. Faith and family were most important to Dorothy. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the YMCA. Weekly trips to the Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Adoration Chapel, watching Wheel of Fortune, and lunch with friends were always a priority. Dorothy’s loving nature and positive outlook will be deeply missed.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Gary Schinderle (Jacqui); two grandsons, Travis and Jered Schinderle; step-grandchildren, Kristen, Dayna and Jason; great-grandson, Jack Schinderle; siblings, Dolores Hamby and Sheila Schinderle (Mark Jacobson); and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by a son, Francis Schinderle (Patty Guthridge); siblings, Theresa Schinderle and Michael Schinderle Jr.; brothers-in-law, Ferdinand Tauscheck and Ken Hamby; and her special friend, Robert Carlson.

Visitation for Dorothy Schinderle and her son, Francis, will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.

Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Janusz Romanek will officiate.

Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.

Dorothy’s family would like to thank her close friends, Yvonne, Judy and Ron, as well as a special niece and nephew, Lisa and Bob Salczenko, for their care and companionship.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in their memory.
