NIAGARA, Wis. — Joanne Julia Dunlap, 85, of Niagara, passed away with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at Marshfield Medical Center – Dickinson in Iron Mountain.

She was born in Iron Mountain on May 31, 1938, to the late Earl and Julia (Eckberg) Rouse. Joanne graduated from Niagara High School in 1956. Less than a year later, she was married to the love of her life, Alvin Dunlap, on Jan. 12, 1957. Family was always first in Joanne’s heart. She loved hosting family gatherings and everyone looked forward to her phenomenal cooking and baking. Memories of sitting around the TV watching the Packers play with a drink in one hand and one of Joanne’s delicious meat pies in the other will always be cherished. She also enjoyed time spent with family and friends at camp.

Joanne will be missed by her four children, Cindy Brem, Lana (Kim) DeForge, Mike (Vicki) Dunlap and Cosmo, and Scott Dunlap (fiance, Shari); 12 grandchildren, Brad (Kim) Dumke, David (Jen) Dodsworth, Brandon (Stephanie) Dodsworth, Nathan (Chrissy) Dodsworth, Brianne Dodsworth, Bryan (Shelby) DeForge, Crystal (Tim) Howen, Shanna (Jeff) Chase, Tristan (Ian) Carlson, Amber (Dan) Pipp, Jacob Dunlap and Connor Dunlap; 28 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Joanne is preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Alvin Dunlap; and three siblings, Orville (Norma) Rouse, James Rouse and Arlene (Francis) Gordon.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 29, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home: 901 Carpenter Ave., Iron Mountain, MI, with Msgr. Joseph Gouin officiating a prayer service at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Niagara Cemetery.
