IRON MOUNTAIN — Terrance “Terry” Alquist, 65, of Iron Mountain, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, at Marshfield Medical Center – Dickinson in Iron Mountain.

Terry was born Aug. 15, 1958, son of the late Philip and Barbara Alquist. He grew up in a wonderful, close knit neighborhood in Kingsford. Baseball, basketball, Boy Scouts, and camping with his family kept him busy when he was young. He spent a lot of time at camp with his dad, learning many skills and hunting. Terry graduated from Kingsford High School in 1976 and went on to graduate from DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago. He had an assortment of jobs until he began working at Specialty Minerals in Quinnesec. He retired after working there for 27 years.

On Aug. 20, 1992, Terry married his best friend and soulmate, Linda (Machus) Dumais. Together they expanded their dream home and property in Merriman, which included horses, many dogs, some cats and birds. They enjoyed camping, boating, fishing with their grandson, Kaden, and bonfires with their friends. He liked to play Monopoly and Scrabble, and could be quite the prankster at times.

Survivors include his loving wife, Linda; a stepson, Russell Dumais; a grandson, Kaden Dumais; two sisters, Roxanne (Steve) Hudson and Lisa (Mike) Hakes; brothers-in-law, Dave (Gail) Machus, Jim (Lori) Machus, and John Machus; sisters-in-law, Teresa (Dean) Wickman and Kris Johnson; one uncle, Glenn Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Phil and Barb Alquist; his in-laws, Dave and Aileen Machus; and many aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Terry’s Life will be announced at a later date. Burial will be at the Iron Mountain Cemetery.
