ESCANABA — Albert J. “Buzz” Busbani, 90, of Escanaba, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, at OSF St. Francis Hospital.
He was born on Oct. 2, 1933, in Iron Mountain, son to August and Helen (Koller) Busbani. Buzz graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1951.
Buzz served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1956. A Korean War veteran, he was awarded the National Defense Service Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal.
Following his years in the military, Buzz chose a career in law enforcement. He worked for the Michigan State Police from 1957 until a work injury in 1974 that forced him out of that career. He was very proud of his years as a trooper and always continued to support his fellow officers.
Buzz then was an investigator for the Delta County Friend of the Court for 10 years until his retirement.
On May 20, 2016, Albert married Barbara (Mineau) Nault-Busbani at St. Anne Church in Escanaba.
Buzz was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting, especially being out with his beagles hunting rabbits. In his older years, he appreciated just being outside and feeding and watching the deer and birds. He was a founding board member of Wildlife Unlimited of Delta County for 39 years and still continued his involvement with the organization.
Among survivors include his wife, Barbara; children, Kathy (Joe) Pruitt of Maryland, Julie Fuller of Green Bay, Wis., Len (Sue) Busbani of Escanaba, and Mike Busbani of Tennessee; several stepchildren; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; aunt, Gertrude Koller; niece, Doreen Ellis; and great-nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joanne L. Busbani; first wife and the mother of his children, Joanne; second wife, Rhoda; and third wife, Kathy.
