Charles M. Lindstrom
Charles M. Lindstrom
MARINETTE, Wis. — Charles M. Lindstrom, 86, of Marinette, passed away quietly at home with his family on Feb. 6, 2024. Born to Edwin and Mildred (Donaldson) Lindstrom on Oct. 19, 1937, he grew up in Granite Bluff and graduated from Kingsford High School in 1955.
After graduating from Milwaukee Area Technical College, marrying his sweetheart, Jeanne Bilski and finishing a 5-year apprenticeship at Stanek Tool Corp. in Milwaukee, Chuck moved his family to Marinette in 1963 and started his own business, C&R Tool Corp. with his good friend Rudy Pilot.
In 1972, he started another business adventure when he purchased a small foundry with a few partners and formed Marinette Casting Corp. Chuck became president of the corporation and remained in that position until his retirement.
Chuck and Jeanne had four children, and eventually built their dream house in the woods in 1978. Chuck also built the family a cottage on a beautiful lake in the UP that the family has been enjoying for more than 50 years now. It was his little piece of paradise, and his favorite place in the world to go to relax.
Chuck enjoyed golfing with friends, boating and waterskiing at the cottage, bowling in a league for many years and winning tournaments. He raced snowmobiles and even had a Ski-Daddler dealership for a short time.
His love of antique cars led him to start the M&M Antique Auto Club, where he could show off his 1934 Plymouth in the car shows and parades. He enjoyed drinking an Old Fashioned and could twirl anyone around the dance floor whenever he heard some good polka music.
The ultimate sportsman, he was always happiest when he was hunting, trapping or fishing. The many mounted trophy animals on the walls of his home are from hunting trips to Canada, Alaska and “Out West.” Moose, elk, mule deer, bear. . .anything that could be hunted, he did. The annual fishing trip to Canada with his sons and friends was a highlight that he looked forward to every year.
Chuck and Jeanne also took many trips together in their 60 years of marriage — several cruises and trips to Mexico, Italy, Greece, Sweden and Norway, just to name a few. They also enjoyed having a home in Florida for several years to get away from the Wisconsin winters during their retirement.
Never one to have an idle moment, Chuck was constantly managing the many acres of land he owned, cutting trees (he loved his chainsaw), clearing brush, moving dirt with his big machinery and always splitting wood to heat the house. Many hours were spent walking his property with his dog, Bree, and just enjoying nature.
Chuck is survived by his children, Terri (Ross) Rhode of Green Bay, Wis., Paul (Amy) Lindstrom of Niagara, Wis., Dave Lindstrom of Marinette, and Patti (Andrew) Drescher of Riner, Va.; grandchildren, Hattie (Matt) Stuessy, Emma JoEllen Lindstrom and Charlie Drescher; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Donna and Maggie. He is also survived by his sister, Arlene Axelson of Green Bay; and very sadly missed by his beloved dog, Bree. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Jeanne.
A Celebration of life for friends and family will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank Unity Hospice for their wonderful help during such a difficult time.
Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home is assisting the family.
