Robert W. Vassar Sr.

Robert was born in Stambaugh to the late Ervin and late Evelyn (Anderson) Vassar on July 2, 1935.

He attended Stambaugh School District. He owned and operated Vassar Roofing for many years.

Robert served in the US Army as a combat engineer and was awarded the Army of Occupational Medal (Germany) Sharpshooter (Rifle) and the Good Conduct Medal.

He received an honorable discharge on Sept. 27, 1956.

Robert was involved in the VFW and antique car clubs. He was most happy restoring antique cars and going to car shows and swap meets. He loved the Packers, hunting, fishing, trapping and his dogs, and spending time with his family.

Robert is survived by one son, Robert (Jeannette) Vassar Jr.; his three daughters, Robin Vassar, Kelly (Jim) Vassar and Jacqueline (Bob) Nylund; his four grandchildren, Brent Alimenti, Misty (Jesse) Vassar, Rod Nylund and Samantha (Tyler) Fittante; two great-grandchildren, Gavin Fittante and Kenneth Alimenti; one brother, Larry (Meredith) Vassar; and a niece, Beth Nelund.

Robert is proceeded in death by partner in life, Susan Henry.

In accordance with Robert’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
