Debra Lee Mattia

FELCH — Debra “Debbie” Lee Mattia, 66, of Felch, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024, at her home with her husband by her side.

Debbie was born on Oct. 1, 1957, in Detroit, Mich., a daughter of the late Gerald Sellman and Rose (Kuzmiak) Raman. She grew up in Detroit and attended school there for a time.

She then moved to Felch in 1970, where she graduated from North Dickinson High School. She married David Scott Mattia on Oct. 3, 1997, in Las Vegas.

Debbie worked at CCI in Iron Mountain for 31 years and retired in September 2011. She enjoyed vacations to sunny places which included Mexico, Arizona and Florida.

She loved her many cats and dogs, going to concerts, taking side-by-side trips throughout the U.P. with her husband and friends, several road trips across the country, such as taking US 1 from California to Oregon, and tending her flower garden.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, David Scott of Felch; daughter, Alexandra Rose (Michael) Matter of Madison, Wis.; nieces, Michele R. (Frank Nudo) Bishop, of Phoenix, and Sydney DeTurk, of Melbourne, Fla.; nephew, Robert W. (Ellen) Bishop of Grosse Pointe Park, Mich.; mother-in-law, Armine Mattia; sisters-in-law, Mary Beth (Jeff) Depue, of South Haven, Mich., and Debbie (Carl) Peterson, of Marquette; and brother-in-law, Robby (Shelloy) Mattia, of Melbourne.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Veto Raman; sister, Patricia Bishop; brother-in-law, Robert C. Bishop; and father-in-law, Ernest F. Mattia Jr.

Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 23 at Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

Funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, with Rev. Fr. James Baraniak, O. Praem. officiating. Burial will be in Felch Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Debbie’s name to Almost Home Animal Shelter, 5060 Lincoln Street, Quinnesec, Michigan, 49876.
