Fern G. Tutas

KINGSFORD — Fern G. Tutas, of Kingsford, passed away on March 3, 2024, at Marshfield Medical Center – Dickinson in Iron Mountain, at the age of 93.

She was born on Sept. 15, 1931, in Ishpeming, to Leonard and Bonita O’dette. Fern met the love of her life, George Tutas, and they spent 53 years of happiness together until his passing in 2010.

An avid sewer and quilter, Fern worked in the fabric department at Shopko in Kingsford for 20 years until her retirement. Fern and George were active members with the Superior Sam camping group, and they traveled every winter to Brownsville, Texas, to escape the cold.

Fern is survived by her son, James Tutas of Iron Mountain; and two grandchildren, Nicholas Tutas of Cedar Key Fla., and Kelly La Torre (Edoardo) of Meridian, Idaho; and two great-grandchildren, Penelope and Paloma La Torre.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George; one daughter, Kathy Pauquette; and her brother, Gerald Odette, and his wife, Beverly.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. on Friday, March 22 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

Fr. Janusz Romanek will offer the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be at Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
