NIAGARA, Wis. — Judy E. Larsen, a beloved resident of Niagara, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, at Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris, Texas, protected by her family.

Judy graduated from Niagara High School as the valedictorian of her class in 1964 and went on to earn her nursing degree in Milwaukee. Her career as a nurse at Milwaukee County Hospital spanned many years, during which she made significant contributions to the medical field. Notably, Judy was asked to develop the paramedics training program for Milwaukee County, where she not only crafted the training materials but also served as an inspirational instructor for numerous years. Her students cherished and respected her immensely.

Following her dedicated nursing career, Judy continued to share her wealth of knowledge by teaching the paramedics class, serving as EMS coordinator for the City of Brookfield, Wis., until her retirement. Her impact on the education and training of future healthcare professionals is immeasurable.

In 2010 Judy returned to her hometown of Niagara for her well-deserved retirement. During these years, she passionately pursued her love for quilting, creating intricate masterpieces for family and friends. Judy also enjoyed the open road, embarking on unforgettable journeys in her motorhome alongside her brother, exploring various corners of the United States.

For the last five winters, Judy embraced the warmth of Northeast Texas, snow birding with her sister, Sandra, and brother, Glen. Her winters were filled with quilting, shared laughter, cherished moments and the love of family.

Known for her heart of gold, Judy was a selfless caregiver who put others before herself. A true family matriarch, she loved fiercely and leaves behind a legacy of compassion.

Judy is preceded in death by her father, Merle Larsen, her mother, Kathryn (Kay) Larsen, and her brother, Butch (Alan) Larsen.

She is survived by her siblings, Sandra Larsen of Lancaster, Texas, and Glen Larsen of Niagara.

She will be deeply missed by her special nieces and nephews, Kathleen Maginn of Atlanta, Tricia Maginn (son, Kyle) of Bryan, Texas, Marisa Walters (Jeff and Kayla) of Spread Eagle, Wis., Tobin Larsen (Emily, Matthew and Rachel) of Appleton, Wis., and Lindsey Larsen (Jeremy, Liam and Natalie Smith) of Goodyear, Ariz. Judy is also fondly remembered by many cousins and friends.

In celebrating Judy’s life, let us remember the joy she brought to ours and the impact she made on the lives of those fortunate enough to have known her.

May she rest in eternal peace. A private family service was held.
