Carol Ruth Rucinski

She was born on Sept. 20, 1937, in Stambaugh, daughter of the late George and Helen (Ketola) Rucinski. At a young age she moved with her family to Milwaukee. After graduating from Riverside High School in 1955, she joined the US Army, serving tours in Alabama (2) Indiana (2) Texas, Virginia, Washington DC, California, Colorado and overseas tours in Japan, Italy and Germany before retiring in June 1976. While in the service she was awarded the National Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal (6 awards), the Army Commendation Medal (3 awards), and The Meritorious Service Medal. Her jobs were in the fields of financial and personnel.

After her retirement she returned to Crystal Falls and worked in the Medical Records Department at Crystal Falls Community Hospital, becoming its director after she became an accredited records technician. She retired from that position in October 1999.

Carol enjoyed traveling, camping, bowling and spoiling her nieces and nephews. She also loved animals and rescued quite a few from the local shelters.

Carol is survived by her nieces, Patricia (Raymond) Furmanski of Dagget and Jill (David) Halsey of Pickford; her nephew, Tom (Debbie) Wescott of Crystal Falls; and her sister, Georgia Keller of Iron River.

She is further survived by many other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her companion of 30 years, Joy Fredericks; her sisters, Agnes Knapp of Mequon, Wis., Ellen (Rosie) Westcott of Crystal Falls, and Helen Karpinski of Waukesha, Wis.; and a niece, Jo Ellen (Robert) Martin of Coloma, Wis.

There is no visitation and private family funeral services will be held.
