JEAN ALLEVA

KINGSFORD — Jean Alleva, 80, of Kingsford passed away Sunday, April 14, 2024.

Jean was born Aug. 6, 1943, in Chicago, daughter of the late Josephine (Ceridono) and Clifton Barkle.

Jean first saw her future husband in the classroom after he had returned from the military. Noticing him right away, she inquired about the “good looking guy.” It wasn’t until later, while she was a waitress at the G&G restaurant, that they officially met and began dating. Jean and Raymond were united in marriage on Dec. 8, 1962, and enjoyed 55 wonderful years of married life before Dad’s passing in 2018.

Jean was a CNA in her younger years and later on enjoyed working at Curves for Women. She was a fantastic captain of the boat her husband built, and together they pulled many water skiers. Jean made the best spaghetti sauce, and her meatballs were heavenly! She enjoyed her flower beds and road trips with Dad, later with Brenda and Tim.

Left to celebrate her memory are her daughters, Brenda (Tim) Deau and Bonnie Johnson; grandchildren, Sarah, Jaime, Michael Jr., Mark, Lisa, Debra, Robb and Chris; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; parents, Josephine and Clifton Barkle; sisters, Doris, Audrey, and Ellen; brothers, Lawrence, Albert and Richard; as well as granddaughter, Stacey; and son-in-law, Michael Johnson.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 26, at 1 p.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home. Pastor David Wilton will officiate the service.

Condolences to the family of Jean Alleva may be expressed online at www.ernashfuneralhomes.com.
