Lee Robert Bashaw

1936-2024

Lee Robert Bashaw

SPREAD EAGLE, Wis. — As dawn began to break over the skies above Lake Ellwood on Easter morning, Lee Robert Bashaw peacefully drew his last breath, surrounded by his loved ones. His soul transcended to join his Lord and Savior, reuniting with cherished family who preceded him – his father Leonard, mother Katherine, brother Jerry, and sister Katherine.

Born in 1936 in Manitowoc, Wis., Lee dedicated his life to serving others with unwavering commitment. He honored his country with distinction, first as a tank mechanic in the U.S. Army and later as the USPS area maintenance technician for the U.P and N.E.W.

Lee’s vibrant humor illuminated every room he entered, finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. His annual ritual of hanging his oversized stocking at Christmas brought laughter to all. He valued integrity above all else, extending a helping hand whenever needed.

Together with his beloved wife of 66 years, Ginger, Lee enjoyed being a part of the St. John’s Wisconsin Synod Evangelical Lutheran Church community, actively participating in various council roles.

In his leisure moments Lee found solace in fishing, solving word puzzles, delving into captivating books, or tending to his yard and flower garden. He often shared quiet evenings on the deck with Ginger, watching the sunset together as they enjoyed the hummingbirds flitting to and fro, while deer grazed nearby as schools of bass made their nightly visit and the loons sang their lullaby. Yet, his competitive spirit was apparent during lively games of Canasta or cribbage where he reigned as the undisputed master.

Together with Ginger, Lee nurtured two remarkable sons, Lance (Kristin) of Spread Eagle, and Lane (Alisa) of Two Rivers, Wis. He held a special fondness for his grandchildren, willingly embarking on long journeys to witness often brief events, just so they felt the unwavering love and support of their grandparents.

Lee was blessed with seven grandchildren: Melissa (Macrea) Anderson of Iron Mountain, Megan (Jordan) Windahl of Marquette, Tyler Wilcox of Merrill, Wis., Cole Moreau of Phoenix, Angelia Bashaw of Menasha, Wis., Daniella Bashaw of Sheboygan, Wis., and Gibson Bashaw of Two Rivers. He was also lucky to spend time with his seven great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his brother, George; sister, Ginny; sister, Betty; wife, Ginger; and sons, Lance and Lane.

His family has chosen to honor Lee’s memory with a private celebration of life to be held at a later date.
